Point of the cyborg chickens?

I have 3 of them following me around, but what do they do besides making me reload every time they suicide?

So I have 5 cyborg chickens in my pen, that includes the one I started with... But I have a 6th cyborg chicken that refuses to stop following me and enter the pen. Sooooo did I encounter a bug or is there 6?

I think I found 2 in the garden area. One when I originally went there, but I don't remember getting him then but I might have. I went back later in the game and found him again. But not positive if I got him the first time or not.
