Post Body

Hi, I’ve posted about my situation with my parents on other subs but essentially I’m getting my life back. My parents isolated me for years, financially, emotionally abused me and essentially neglected me. I’ve cut off contact with them.

One of the things my parents did when financially abusing me was forcing to co sign on to a lease for a car I couldn’t afford, at 16. The car has long been paid off (by me) and I’m needing to keep the title in my name only, but I have a restraining order against my parents and don’t want to contact them to sign it over. One thing to note they are in Missouri (possibly Florida now) and I’m in Washington state.

Where do I start legally to settle this in court? I can’t really afford a lawyer so I don’t know what to do at this point… I can register the car no problem but I’m sure the legal processes of outright being the title owner is tricky.

TLDR: parents financially abused me and forced me to sign a car lease at 16. Couldn’t afford the car, but paid it off somehow. They are in Missouri (possibly Florida), I’m in Washington state. I’m no contact with parents restraining order. I’m the co signer on vehicle title, but want to be the main buyer on title. Needing legal advice on how to proceed. I can’t afford a lawyer.
