What's the Status of Simulator Battles?

Hey, just checking in on the player levels and playability of simulator battles. I had stopped playing War Thunder many moons ago when queue times were horrid and people were farming airfield kills in Enduring Conflict or w/e it was called. I just wanted to see if it has improved or stabilized since then.
