How do you fly the Hunter like a badass?

Just spaded it, I was told 930 kph is the magic number and while it's true that I'm fast AF, sometimes a Sabre F-2 will pop up on my tail and manages to keep up with my speed, pushing 1080 kph
What am I doing wrong? Any tips for breaking the gap from other targets that can push 1100kph
