Just to clarify, this isn't a "hurr durr missiles shit, cant hit shit" post. I'm just new to the missile game and have frankly, very little knowledge of how they work and the nuances of missiles. The extent of my experience literally just being R-60M's and AiM-9L's hitting random unaware cas jn ground battles while im playing the A-10 or SU-25.

I'm currently using the A-5C I've owned for ages to grind China in air battles, only taking it out with missiles and having read the AiM-9P and Magic 1's are two of the best ir missiles at the br. However I'm really struggling to hit anything with them. Take the attached clip for example. I was certain I had engaged properly and had an easy kill on the F-105, however both my missiles missed and I'm not sure why.

I'd really appreciate some help in understanding when to fire missiles and how not to fire them.
