Getting walloped by missiles in 7.0 & 7.3

Any tips on dodging them? Or just staying away from em? Currently doing the US grind and there's no warning system in the F2H and F-84 unless I'm just blind and deaf, haven't unlocked the other jets yet.
Lately have been getting taken out kilometers away from anyone and it's pretty frustrating to get smacked before entering any kind of dogfight.
