Intersting weird alt history matchups from the 70's to 90's?
Post Body

Thinking of this in a wargaming perspective. Along the lines of how Indonesia got a sverdlov, Argentina kept a WW2 cruiser around for a while, and a Dutch cruiser was around for quite some time in south America. And how all those escort carriers were ambling about in second and third rate navies for so long. So, what sort of probable or improbable matchups would you think are interesting in a 70's-90's far flung corner of the world? Surface combatant based like someone buying prinz eugen to counter Indonesia's sverdlov or even costal force based with some interesting heavy support like one side having a Fletcher or two and the other having a tribal. Or even le'fantastique living on somewhere running circles around everyone with her much degraded engines making only 38 knots.

It doesn't have to make sense, it just has to be really cool LOL
