Proteus is specifically a subsea engineering vessel. Her cranes are designed to lift and land things on the seabed, and a moon pool in the middle for more sheltered working. It's for constructing and maintaining subsea oilfield equipment.
Most normal supply boats that bring us food and mud won't have it's own heavy crane or moonpool.
Coincidentally the first picture on that wiki (Island Chieftain) is the supply boat for one rig I worked on.
