Total: [2000 points ,4 CP per 9th] (battlescribe)
This is my first army, so I'm looking for help refining it going into 9th edition. With specialist detachments gone in 9th, I've moved from a LD warlord to the DP.
My main strategy is using the daemon engines (Dino bots) to provide immediate, critical pressure on a concentrated front for my opponent. Lord discordants, defilers, forgefiends and the heldrake move as a heavy armor column and tear into a critical mass.
While they do, the noise marines and cultists each accompany a Helbrute and Sonic Dreadnought respectively, with the obliterators coming in on a third objective.
The daemon prince is running wings and warptime, which should give the movement to respond to any of the three squads should they get pinned down, or to leap over and clear screener that have slowed down our Jurassic Park Parade.
The heldrake holds a secondary roll as a responder, and the baleflamer should help a squad clear an objective before moving to secure it if the enemy is dug in.
In a perfect world, I find the room to outfit the noise marines at least with a Rhino, and add a third obliterator to the list. (and miracles withstanding, add Abbadon changing the cultists to black legion and the three obliterators to flawless host) but am not sure what the best cuts are.
Cut ideas:
1 defiler and 1 Lord Discordant open 343 points (which should be enough for Abbadon, a 30th cultist and 3rd obliterator) but I'm not sure the daemon engines can stand with so few units.
Without Abbadon rewarding a cultist blob, in debating splitting them up. In this case, I'd swap a baleflamers for autocannon on a Lord Discordant and take the 30th cultist.
Alternatively, cutting a forgefiend allows the points for a 30th cultist and 3rd obliterator. This feels like a good tradeoff at a glance, and will most likely incorporate.
