So I have decided to get into 40k tabletop, I've been reading the Beginners Guide on this very subreddit, which is a great resource I must say, but I feel like I need some clarification in regards to paints and painting as I feel a bit lost.

I have never done any kind of painting before, and certainly not painting of models. I think I'm starting to get to grips with it somewhat after watching some Warhammer TV guides, but some pointers before making a purchase would be welcome.

It seems like the Vallejo Game Color packs are pretty good value, if I were intending on painting Dark Eldar would the Introductory Set (http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com/en_US/introduction/family/18/80) have everything I would need or is there a better option? How do I know what's a wash, a basecoat or a highlight? Are any of those things I need to purchase separately?
