Elite armies do not resemble the fluff at all. There. I said it.

And most older editions don't do them justice either. 10th edition is just worse when it comes to making a Space Marine feel like nothing but a tankier line soldier. An ogryn should not be tougher than a transhuman super soldier in a suit that makes him a walking tank in the lore, nor should he be able to take a heavy bolter shell while the transhuman super soldier keels over from a single shot. Marines ironically enough felt more elite and distinct to the rest of the game back when they had only one wound.

And before the space marine haters squeal "mARinEs aRE NoT aN eLItE aRmY" - on tabletop they sure as hell aren't anymore. In the fluff there exist only ~1M-1.5M of them in the entire galaxy. Compare that to even the eldar and you seriously want me to believe that a space marine SHOULD be on par with an aspect warrior when even a single craftworld numbers several millions of non-militia eldar combatants alone? Marines and their equivalents should have custodes stats or something similar.
