So I am an old guy trying to recapture my youth and just bought a bunch Chaos Marines, paints, brushes, wet pallette, hobby tools, mat and light. Dumped way more money than I plan to admit to my girlfriend...

Last I played was 3rd edition with a pretty successful 2k pt Iron Warriors army and then briefly Nids to mix it up. Only played local tournaments in the NE, but I never lost. Clearly much has changed with the game in 20 years. I am trying to consume as much as I can, but it's pretty overwhelming.

I could really use some help with which Legion to run. I am dead set on Chaos (obviously since i bought them), even though from what I've seen, they have been pretty underpowered comparatively for a few editions now. Originally I planned to go with IW again, but I'm not sure I want to paint the same scheme as I did originally, but I am not totally closed to the idea. This is what I have for models so far:

• Balefleet Battleforce...when it arrives (yes, I know the Heldrake is a flying turd, haha)
• 2 Venom Crawler/Oblit sets
• Another 5man squad of terms
• Disco Lord

I almost pulled the move on the Combat patrol as well, so I stuck my finger in a receptacle to snap out of it. FML trying to find a MoP for under $100...

From what I understand EC are pretty powerful, but I prefer not the play the flavor of the month either...but again, not totally opposed to it. The only Legion I definitely don't want to run would be Deathguard.

Anyway...thanks in advance for any help or direction. AoO just dropping is making things even more complicated for me, but at least I bit the bullet and made some purchases. I've been wanting to get back into it for years!
