Disclaimer, this is not a whine on how these new necrons suck or a QQ on Pariahs being excluded. Just want some discussion on the thoughts of the fate of Pariahs
So I've been googling stuff and read the Codex and other necron stuff, mainly stuff like Hammer and Anvil and Fall of Damnos to get the whole view on the fact that Pariahs are gone.
So the simple way of handling this would be to accept the fact that they are retconned and never existed. However much like the Imperium, I hate simple and want to make this issue into a convoluted mess.
So spoilers on the book Hammer and Anvil (which I might add is frikken awesome and you should read it)
We see that the cryptek Ossuar is in fact quite interested in humans and their bodies to the extent of modifying one of the sisters of battle. He implanted some necron techmagiks in her which allowed her to access necron tech and other things. Similar to a pariah but not quite.
We have the viewpoint of Khaygis, a nemesor, who thinks that this is an abomination and must be destroyed, more out of repulsion than anything. Ossuar eventually thinks that humans are pointless in the end but here two viewpoints are set.
Add onto the fact that there are different necron factions and dynasties which different opinions there's bound to be a faction that disdains any sort of hybridization or those so consumed by the hatred of the warp and the living they'll do anything to accomplish the destruction of the former such as the use of creatures which have negative warp presence.
Hell we have the Altymhor Dynasty which enslaved a world to use as slaves instead of vaporizing them like other necrons would have. Thus there is a precedent of necrons utilizing non-necrontyr resources.
Perhaps the early appearances of pariahs were just necrons with the destroyer virus utilizing all the resources available to kill all life and warp stuffs and with the awakening of "proper" Necron Dynasties they were quickly swept under the rug. But I'd like to think that they are out there still, being utilized by the more radical factions of the necrons but a minority and thus is not seen as much.
tl;dr necrons afflicted with the destroyer curse or those who like using non necron slaves may continue using Pariahs while the other proud necron dynasty might disdain from utilizing Pariahs which may explain their disappearance
Sorry if this a rambling mess
Also with the new codex, the idea that the C'tan planting pariah genes for harvesting for future wars is no longer canon right?
