How do you guys get through the game until Uranus?

It's been quite the drag...the gameplay is fine for the most part, but you run out of energy so quickly that you can barely use your abilities before running out.
How do you all keep the boredom away while you grind all the way to Uranus?
Also it's pretty funny that the game is supposed to get good at Uranus, of all places.
Edit: Forgot to mention I'm on Mars at the moment.
