What to consider when choosing a weapon?

Hello,

Recently I started looking deeper into the mechanics of the game (I'm a new player) and on the wiki I stumbled upon Disposition. Now from my understanding the higher the Disposition (1-5) the less the weapon is used and thus the less popular the weapon is. Generally the stronger weapon is more popular thus I think an appropriate conclusion would be that the lower the Disposition the stronger the weapon.

From this I wondered what made a weapon strong(er). Thus I started comparing 2 weapons, One with high Disposition and one with low Disposition.

This brought me to compare the Orthos Prime with Disposition 1 to the Bo Prime with Disposition 4. Now I can lay down the complete comparison but the only things the Orthos Prime had going for it were Slashing damage vs Impact damage, and the fact that it is a polearm vs a staff.

So since these were the deciding factors I looked through the Polearm weapons for a similar case. By doing this I found the Tonbo.

Tonbo vs Orthos Prime is a strange one. Disposition wise the Tonbo is at 5, thus a very unpopular weapon and thus a bad weapon... But why?

The Tonbo deals more damage per attack, has a similar reach and radius, a higher status effect chance, same stance polarity, an extra V polarity, less Impact damage (8 vs 9.75), more Puncture damage (12 vs 9.75), and way more Slashing damage (60 vs 45).

The Orthos Prime on the other hand has higher crit chance (5% more), and Blast damage on the Slam attack (although the Tonbo has the chance for the Blast proc to happen, it deals normal damage). It also has a slightly higher attack speed although it's DPS is slower even when taking this into account. The last thing potentially beneficial to the Orthos Prime is that it has a finisher damage listed where the Tonbo has not, I'm not certain if this matters.

Taking this all into account, and comparing the Tonbo vs Orthos Prime, I don't feel like the pros of the Orthos Prime compare to the pros of Tonbo in a way to warrant such a hefty difference in Disposition. I even believe you could consider the Tonbo to be better.

So why is there such a massive difference between the Disposition of the Tonbo and the Orthos Prime?

Cheers, Sorrol

Edit 1: I said Tondo instead of Tonbo multiple times, I've removed these errors.

Edit 2: Looks and advertisement of the Orthos Prime ofcourse also have an effect on the Tonbo. Nevertheless I believe this massive difference in Disposition cannot be because of that alone.
