This is going to be my idea on how DE should rework Limbo and make him able to to go from, and this is a great quote by the server on the laundra relay, "The best looking trashcan i have ever had" to able to be a viable end game frame.
As someone who mains Limbo the idea of a frame who can move himself, enemies, and other tenno between two different planes of existence seems amazing to me. But theirs a problem right now. Moving entities between the two isn't smooth enough. when talking to players late last night on the laundra relay everyone gave me their opinion on limbo and everyone basically had the same idea about him. DE only added him to be a quick frame to release and satisfy fans with a really cool idea but do a very lazy job doing so. in other words, the coolest idea with trying as least as possible. So where do we go from here? well i believe that limbo's ability set is good but just not optimized for any late gameplay. Right now he is the closest thing to challenge frost for a defense frame but with the frost rework everyone wants frost. The only other thing limbo is used for is banishing other tenno for the 2 energy per second earned in the rift just to reduce the drain on other frames. I think its safe to say that's not want DE wants Limbo to be used for. So now to his ability's.
1 Banish: Displaces a target into the rift plane dealing damage if the target is hostile. The damage for it is great at
250/300/400/500 initial damage and 300 for entering the rift.
and the duration is fine as well at
10/15/20/25 s
and the abilities efficiency at 25 energy, this can be a problem moving them one by one.
Moving targets one by one to the rift is a real slow process that in later gameplay is not going to pay off well. so how do we fix this? Clicking 1 to banish will banish the selected target for 10 energy instead of 25. but moving them one by one is still slow and you dont want to put cataclysm all over the place if your using it for defense or it uses a lot of energy cause of your build. the solution is holding 1 for 2 seconds will banish the target and targets in a 1/1.5/2/2.5 m radius for 25 energy. This way you can still send single targets to the rift or small select groups while also not wasting all your energy.
2 Rift Walk: pass over into the rift plane. 15 energy to move yourself for 10/15/25/30 seconds. I think this can be left as is. the only complaint ive seen about it is that the cast time is a little long but Limbo excels with a natural talent mod so i think with that as an option its fine as is. Good job DE you got one right!
3 Rift Surge: surge the void energy through the rift plane increasing damage inflicted on enemies that have been banished there. 50 energy for 50%/100%/150%/200% weapon damage for 10/15/20/25 seconds. This is how Limbo dominates the rift, you deal double damage with this activated. So Limbo needs to make him and his fellow tenno dominate the rift so rift surge needs to affect all tenno, but they need to be in range. I would give it a 10/12/14/16 m range to his power. so we get double damage but how does that compare to other tenno? well enemies that are primed by molecular prime also take double damage plus they are slowed for crowd control. So i think limbos augment for rift surge, rift torrent: Damage multiplier is increased for each enemy in the rift plane, needs to be part of the base ability. i know what you thinking, that sounds really over powered! I know but i have a counter measure that ill explain later.
4 Cataclysm: a violent blast if void energy tears open a pocket of rift plane which will sustain itself for a short period before collapsing on itself. 100 energy for 200/300/400/500 initial damage and 300 rift damage for 15/20/25/30 seconds for a range of 10/12/14/16 m initial radius and 2/3/4/5 m final radius. So cataclysm, what to do with you, well ive got one idea instead of a duration ability how about we change you to a drain ability with no fixed timer on it? Cataclysm will now cost 25 energy at cast at have an energy drain of 25/18/15/12 s while active and does not change in size. upon reactivating of it will end the ability. Also how about we reduce the amount of void energy spinning around so we can choose what energy color we want but also be able to see out of it? no? yeah you're right...
Lets talk Augment! since we put rift surge into the base ability and cataclysm is no longer duration based we need new augments and ive got ideas. first haven for banish is great and we should keep that as is, havens great.
Rift walk doesn't have one so i wont try to give it one.
It was hard thinking of one for rift surge but i am going to suggest, Torment plane. Torment plane increases status effect chance and status effect duration for all units in the rift. your amprex, ember's fireball, and ancients toxic aura's are all effected. i don't know about how much it changes but i'm up for other augments if someone comes up with one.
Cataclysmic reversal, casting cataclysm again in an area where cataclysm already is the pocket of void will spin the other way pushing enemies out as it does. enemies take damage leaving the void and take damage if they enter again. You can only reverse once per cataclysm.
Alright now for a few changes for the rift. why cant i scan something with the codex scanner if im in the rift and its not? its not like i cant see the thing, i can still see its name and health and level but i cant scan it, why? Anyway fix that now you can.
people have said we should be able to banish a console or if its in a cataclysm we should be able to hack it. I'm going to stick with DE on this one and say no. why? well their needs to be some downside to using to being in the rift, speaking of which.
Remember that counter measure i was talking about earlier when talking about rift surge? Well if we applied all these changes right now Limbo would be OP! So what do we change to make it to balance some? Prepare your popcorn cause people are about to go crazy when i say. Tenno abilities will not damage enemies or effect teammates across the two dimensions. I know, you cant banish Mesa or Excalibro so they cant take damage and reduces the drain while still killing everything? Go cry else where cause this major change is needed to buff limbo to usable for late game. So a mesa cant kill enemies while banished and enemies aren't , Valkyr's warcry wont affect a banished tenno, and cc abilities like Bastille wont affect the other dimension Vauban is in at the time.
To end it a possible suggestion for a cool idea for a passive for limbo. remember those environmental hazard void storms during the arid fear event? if not here's a link to it: http://warframe.wikia.com/wiki/Environmental_Hazards#Void_Storm so how about every minute a void storm has a 5% chance to happen? This passive wont stack with other limbos, 4 limbo's still means 5%.
This is how i would change limbo to make him a great frame capable of end game missions and not just being used to help a mesa or exclaiboop with their energy problems. So i tip my hat to you m'lotus and hope to see limbo become a great frame someday.
