As a beginner, should i finish the main story first before deep diving to the side quests?

i just started playing this game last month and i am enjoying it but overwhelmed at the same time cuz there's a lot on this game. i am currently finishing the nodes on venus and it sometimes when i doing playing any mission i dont know if should i go straight ahead on the objective to finish the node or collect all the stuffs in the resources and smash all the crates before extracting on the mission. sooo the title says it all, is it better to finish the main story first before collecting and grinding? tyia!
