Digital Extremes and the fear of missing out - Very bad practices in a nutshell

Post Body

Hi.

I have a simple issue with the heirloom packs: FOMO. Firstly, the cosmetics are undeniably impressive. However, I can't overlook how they've been packaged, although I understand the motivation behind it. After a decade, Digital Extremes (DE) aims to release something grand, and some items are genuinely special, like the impressive Frost signa.

My admiration for DE and the way Warframe handled monetization has been my benchmark for other games. Yet, these heirloom packs have shattered that moral high ground. This shift towards manipulative practices like FOMO to entice impulsive purchases disappoints me. I've witnessed this pattern before, starting with time-gated content and FOMO, which eventually leads to content removal to prompt buying. Sadly, this has eroded my trust. I won't be contributing financially until this issue is addressed, as I worry about the potential harm these tactics could cause to vulnerable players. My love for the game remains, but this decision has left me disheartened, fearing the emergence of unsavory practices similar to larger gaming companies.

Please note, this rant is simply my online expression of concerns about the game and its developers, driven by my fear of personal and community harm due to these changes. I acknowledge that my view might be narrow and self-centered. Let's maintain a civil discourse and engage with DE constructively instead of directing frustration towards fellow players.
