This game lit a spark for me that I've not had in a while.
For context, I've been a gamer since the early 90s, I go through the lulls and the peaks as many do with gaming. Recently I was in a lull. Then I played wartales. Specifically 22 hours across Friday evening to this morning.
Keep in mind I'm also a family man, husband/father etc. So gaming time is limited. I played this bloody game until 2AM on both Friday and Saturday night without even realising the time that passed. I can't remember the last time I did that. It absolutely nails the "one more turn" gameplay.
I was genuinely gutted when I lost my first 2 characters and my pony! But the way the game handles new guys coming into the group with their own personalities etc is great (I'd LOVE to see this expanded for rpg purposes), and I made a point to pick completely different abilities to the characters I lost to make them feel completely different and offer their own skills to the group.
It just clicks so well, I love it. I feel like it's a game I've been waiting for for a long time without really knowing it.
I have no doubt I'm missing a few bits in terms of gameplay but it's something I've just wanted to find out in my own, no guides or youtube etc. to support me. I've loved just jumping in and finding out.
Thanks so much for it!
This game has definitely lit a fire in me as well. The gameplay is great and the combat never feels drawn out. Maybe 3-5 turns and usually combat is wrapped up which is perfect. I enjoy the quests in the world, the professions, the lite-survival mechanics. It's all just enough to make a great recipe.
