We're trialling these weekly discussion threads. They'll be less heavily moderated than the rest of the subreddit, but don't use this as an excuse to mess around. Sources won't be required for all posts, but if you're making a major claim, be able to cite them.
The aim of this thread is to discuss the effects of aviation on naval warfare, and the development of tactics, equipment and doctrine in the period. This could also lead into how they laid the foundation for the more modern equivalents we see from the latter part of the Second World War.
