I have always wanted to go to Disney World and with recent health issues and stressors, I really could use a vacation! My (28F) husband (27M) has never gone to Disney and it's always been on my bucket list to go during the holidays.
I'm tentatively planning on driving from NC for the dates Fri Dec 15 - Fri Dec 22. Possibly looking at staying at Disney Swan Hotel or some hotels in the Disney Springs area like Holiday Inn, Wyndham or Hilton.
We won't be riding any thrill rides or coasters. I really want to go for the holiday atmosphere, dining experiences, shows, and some of the simpler dark room or boat rides.
Is $5,000 for hotel, park tickets, and food a reasonable budget for two adults? Is it best to just wing it or should I plan on making reservations and an agenda for each day? Any tips or recommendations for my first trip?
Edit: Thanks for all the tips so far! I can over plan so I'll try to find a balance of planning for important things but being flexible for any ride closures or rainy days. A few have recommended staying at Pop Century but it came off as more family friendly and not for an adult couple. Thoughts on that?
