To start off with, I’m a pretty new shift lead at my Walgreens. I also wasn’t working when this occurred.

This morning I woke up to two texts from two separate workers from my store. The first one being from the CSA in the title. The other being from my close friend who’s also a overnight SL, she was working when this went down.

The CSA in question sends me a text saying “a guy threatened my life for no reason, and I got into a fight. For some reason I’m getting charged with a misdemeanor. I need your help 😭” Now, this is a crazy ass text to wake up to on a Sunday morning. Why are you asking for my help? We barely know each other. I may sound harsh but the real context of the situation will show exactly why I feel the way I do.

My friend, the other SL, told me that in a nutshell, the CSA jumped the customer in the middle of the store. It started because said customer didn’t want him checking out their items, they wanted SL to do so. He’s a regular who is somewhat flirty with her, but she has insisted multiple times that it isn’t an issue. I had suspicions that this CSA had feelings for her due to the way he has acted around her during our shifts. Being super clingy at all times. She has a boyfriend mind you, but that’s neither here nor there in this situation.

The two had knocked over multiple displays during the scuffle, ending with CSA holding the customer in a headlock. The really weird part being that he kept on repeating “YOU’RE GONNA BE LOCKED UP! YOU’RE GOING TO PRISON!!!” In a joking tone. The customer had multiple knots and bruises on his body and head by the end of this.

To me, something like this was bound to happen with this CSA. In the past he’s made weird/inappropriate remarks to our customers. One that stands out (I heard this from my friend) is this. A customer runs in the store asking the staff if they’ve seen his cousin, and gives them a description of her. Both SL and CSA say they haven’t, which upset the customer because they said this cousin told them she’d be at our store at this time. You think that’d be the end of it right? No, this CSA has the nerve to ask “well, is this girl fine?” In a suggestive tone. Now ofc this rightfully pissed off the customer.

I figured this CSA would get beat up by a customer, not the other way around. Regardless, what a crazy Sunday. I guess there’s no way to truly know what kind of people we may be hiring.
