I worked for CVS for 2 years right out of school from 2007-2009. I switched to hospital pharmacy after that and have been up until Nov when I took an offer from CVS for a Manager Position. CVS is NOT the company I remember it to be. Things have gotten horrible (yes I know, its gotten horrible in retail all around). We are seeing stores that average 1,200 scripts a week only open for 64 hours and barely getting 100 hours total for pharmacists and techs.
I've been lurking on both the CVS subreddit and here and a major difference is EVERY post on CVS is negative. Not a single one isn't. While here most of the posts have been questions on various things like how to properly process this or how to do that with the occasional complaints.
One advantage is I will be going from 40 hours a week down to 24ish a week, which will majorly help burnout in itself. Salary will obviously be less but, if you had to choose between staying at CVS and moving to Walgreens which would you choose?
EDIT - in a situation where short term I need the money but long term Iโm getting out completely. Just need some income to pay the bills in the meantime.
EDIT #2 - Unfortunately living in a rural area there arenโt any other choices. I need at least 20-24 hrs a week to make ends meet. The BIGGEST hope is that I can work a shift and not be completely exhausted and numb when finished. At CVS the expectations are that you work late after close and come in early to get the queues done . It was so draining and soul sucking that even on my days off I had no energy and am exhausted.
Are the shifts 8hr or 12hr?
