I work in the service industry as a waiter on the canary islands, we get tourists from all over the world but ever since the lockdown ended we got more and more french customers.
And i started to notice a certain pattern. French customers that speak a second lenguaje like English, Spanish or German (even if it's just bits and pieces) are usually very nice and polite people.
But the ones that only speak french are almost always arrogant rude assholes that are offended at the thought of speaking something else than French.
You can usually identify the really bad ones within the first few seconds, if i don't hear the lenguage the customers speak naturally i will just ask: English, Español, Deutsch? And if the response i get is: français, i am in for a fun time.
They don't even try to use a translator app or something like that, they are super pissed that i don't understand 100 percent, they complain that we don't have a french menu and are generally just really rude.
