I think a fair few people can agree that Ron Killings is a great performer and a really underrated worker who has done a LOT for the WWE during his time in the roster, and has handled his role as goofy comedic relief with grace. And thatâs exactly why I think he has more than earned a proper world title reign. Whether that be the WWE Championship or World Heavyweight Championship. But his gimmick doesnât exactly scream world championship material on the surface. So youâd have to change the gimmick, right?
Personally, I think it would be really genuinely interesting to put a big title on such an earnestly silly character as R-Truth, and I donât think youâd need to change the character himself all that much for it to work. Youâd just need to change the context around him. I think a good way to do that would be to lean into the earnest likability part of the character and basically have him make friends with all the other babyfaces on the roster, give him a major upset victory (maybe a shock Rumble win), and then pull a âSteve Austin helps Mankind beat the Rockâ in the championship match itself, where other faces help him without necessarily devaluing his efforts. Go full anime-level âhe has the power of friendship on his side.â
Obviously, this relies heavily on solid execution, but I would really love to see it. The man has more than earned the brass ring, even if itâs just a nod in the twilight years of his career as thanks for his service. Iâd be interested in hearing if yâall would be willing to watch this, or if youâd take it in a different direction.

I mean... since when do we let a little thing like reality get in the way of sports entertainment?
