Wanted to share my experience living in Metro Towers this past year. My apartment was nice and I never had any complaints, until I got my security deposit back today. They deducted about 80% of my security deposit for extensive damage to the apartment that I recorded in a checklist and pictures upon move-in. Presumably, they charged the last tenant for these damages as well (because they don't fix them or else I would not have been able to note them).
Many reviews on Google and some redditors warned about this, but I thought I would end up lucky or that maybe those people really did just damage their apartments. I was wrong. I just sent them a long e-mail explaining the situation, attaching images and pointing out that they have, in their possession, a checklist of damages I pointed out (which matches 90% of the damages they pointed out to me in their itemized list of why they charged me $550 in cleaning, paint, etc.) I will update this thread to let you all know if I get some more of my money back.
I suspect that they assume most students will not fight back and so they continue to run this scam. Extremely predatory company.
