Hey everyone!
My buddy bought a WRX back in 2005 which he let me drive and ever since then I've been dying to own one. But, due to having a son in 2005 when I was only 18 and having to make ends meet the car was never in my cards. A few of my other friends have owned WRXs, STIs, and LGTs which even further made me want one after driving them.
Well, my time is finally here! I should be picking up my 2011 STI this week and I couldn't be any more excited! It has 109k on the odometer, but a brand new motor and turbo installed by a local Subaru dealer that is warranted through Subaru. The car is tastefully modded with a Cobb Power Stage 1 kit. It has an exhaust off a 2015 STI, comes with 4 snow tires, and a bunch of spare parts. The guy who owns it is in his late 30s/early 40s and is having back surgery soon so he needs something more comfortable. He has all the service records, etc. for the car.
This is his 3rd STI, he's also owned an EVO and is looking to purchase a Supra in a year or two once his back is fully healed. He and I have been talking a lot over these last few weeks and he said he's always willing to answer any questions I may have about the car in the future. I'm no stranger to cars as I've rebuilt the motor, changed the clutch, and more in my old 2000 Eclipse GT. I then replaced the turbo and rebuilt the top-end of my 1998 Audi A4 1.8T.
I would say this is my first experience with a high performance turbo car, previous to this I owned a 2007 G35S Sedan, but that was NA. I'm aware of the possible issues with the EJ257 and have no plans on beating the car...at least not yet. I plan on buying another car as a daily at which point I do want to mod the STI some more.
Anyway, that's enough text, I'm just really excited to finally be a WRX owner!
