I'm a cliche, but at this point, I don't care.
I've spent nearly my entire 6 month term (2 months to go) on Discrete Math 1 and I'm no closer to passing than I was when I started. I've done all the things I "should" do:
- Set aside time with CIs
- Watched YT Playlists
- Read Discrete Math by Oscar Levin
- Took the PA 3x, took screenshots, and focused on the problems I got wrong.
- Read Zybooks and did most of the exercises
- Studying at local library from the time I get off work until close.
Nada. Still not sticking. Crazy thing is, I originally chose Cloud as my major, and I'm thinking I'd be half way finished if I stuck with that.
I switched to CS because I really wanted a good understanding of programs, systems, and all that jazz. I read https://teachyourselfcs.com/ and watched a lot of testimonials from CS students at other schools. Finally, I thought a CS degree would be more valuable practically than a degree in Cloud Computing.
So, I don't necessarily regret it. But I'm just so frustrated right now. I figured I could take some other classes to get my mind off of it, but my mentor refuses to release anymore classes until I finish DS1. I lowkey started studying DSA1 and I that instantly re-energized my interest in the program, but unfortunately, I can't actually take that class because my mentor won't release it to me.
All momentum is just gone because of DS1.
Any advice?
