How do you guys make Maradona work?

I have tried everything with this guy, just can't seem to make him work. I have tried him at SS,CF and AMF in various managers formations. His classic no.10 card really seems to mess with his runs, he drops back a lot, never seems to be around the ball. I had the most success as an AMF, he picks up some assists and uses his shot but honestly, i have better options at AMF. What have you guys done to make Diego go?? What formations,positions or tactics do you use on him. I really want to use him, especially alongside my Batistuta, what an Argentine combo that could be.
