Adjusting headlight beam

So currently my medium lights are working as “maximum”, and the “maximums” are illuminating the owls. Suffice to say, I’m not making any friends when riding at night.
Anyone knows id to adjust it to be lower, should we turn clockwise or anti clockwise ? Also, is it a fine millimeter adjustment or do we need to give full turns on each knob ?
