I want to go in prepared because part of the deal tomorrow is setting both of us as drivers and all that. I know that I can use my current Google account or create a new one. My thinking is to create a new one that both of us will use in the car. But I don’t know if that’s the right choice or not. I’m basing this on what I think I should do. Normally, I would watch videos about things like this, but there really aren’t many in depth videos about using it on a day to day basis. Plenty to show how to interact once it’s set up, but not many with actual owners on an account they own (as opposed to the account they were told to use for the review.)
What I WANT to happen is to use Google maps for the actual driving, but CarPlay for entertainment - becuse my wife and I both use Spotify and have different likes and playlists and stuff. And while obviously I can use Google Maps through CarPlay, it is my understanding that if I go that route (no pun intended,) the Google Map doesn’t appear in the screen at the steering wheel. Is this true? Will GoogleMaps only appear in front if I utilize the in-car mapping instead of a map that gets there via CarPlay? I’d definitely prefer to have that map in front of me in addition to the center screen.
Second, what are the pros and cons of creating a new Google account exclusively for the car instead of using our own? My thinking is that if we have one account, we just agree on how we want everything to work, and it’s always the same. But if we have different accounts, I’m unclear on how the car knows who is driving or how to switch accounts.
Third, how many people can use the app if we use a single Google account (of that even matters?) we both intend to use the app, but want to make sure we can both access it when we want.
Thanks in advance, and If I think of more questions, I’ll add them in the comments.
[edit: got the car now. Have cleared a few things up below in a new comment. Ask any questions you’d like if you have some as well.]
