P101...not a MAF sensor issue?

My 06 s60 2.5t keeps getting a check engine light for p101. I replaced the mass airflow sensor and it was fine. However, just today it came back on.

I did buy a OBD scanner and was able to clear it before and I notice that when I do, the engine seems to jump back into a healthier state (I gain more power and can hear the engine seem to rev up a bit even).

When I get the check engine light, the engine seems to lose some power .

If my MAF sensor is fine what else could that error be? And why would clearing the code seem to bring the engine more power?
