Stock subwoofer vs aftermarket performance in SPA XC90
Post Body

I have a MY17 XC90 T6 with stock/base audio and I'm between a rock and a hard place on adding a subwoofer. I've determined all of the logistics for my four options, but I'm wondering if anyone can provide insights into how the option worked for you.. regardless of direction, I'll have it professionally installed.

1) Volvo OEM subwoofer installs behind the rear wheel well. This uses an infinite baffle design and I'm wondering if the punch it delivers is worth my time and money. I'll need to purchase an amp for this route. Invisible install. Never need to move anything. (Mid-expense)

2) JBL Basspro Hub Sub installs inside the spare tire rim. I don't need to purchase an amp if I go this route, as It's built into the sub. Invisible install. Need to move hub only if I need my spare tire. (Least-expensive)

3) Removable sub (box) sitting behind the middle or rear row. This is the most visible option and I'm concerned I'll get a window smashed in a theft. Might need to take the sub in and out as I need the space for hauling things. (Most-expensive)

4) Custom fiberglass enclosure and best components. (Visible but never in the way. Might lose my rear pass tie-down plus side storage) (crazy expensive ~4 times more than any other option listed)

What would you do?
