Key fob went into the washing machine along with my jeans a few months ago - it's a front loader, so at least the fob wasn't continuously submerged as it would have been in a top loader.
Anyway, I did my best to physically dry it out, then applied a hair dryer to it on warm setting for several minutes. After going through this process a few times, the fob regained normal functionality - lock, unlock, trunk release, and remote start all work correctly.
Except, a new battery only lasts about three weeks before the car display starts throwing "Low Battery" warnings. Replace the battery, then three weeks later back to low battery warning again.
I'm wondering if perhaps there is still a bit of moisture inside that is causing the battery to drain. Has anyone encountered this situation? Any solutions other than stocking up on batteries?
