VW insurance costs

I’m looking at VW cars and others to buy and the insurance costs run the gamut. My first choice for car is the Golf Alltrack with my second choice being a tie between the Subaru Outback/Forester. I’m amazed at the insurance cost differential.
The cost of insuring the VW is 50% more than either Subaru, minimum, depending on which carrier I go with. What are y’all’s experiences with this?
