I just got a 2014 Jetta GLI manual with 100k miles for $4k. Is the 2.0 TSI a bad engine and what problems should I look out for? Is 100k miles bad for the engine? And what are your thoughts on the car in general?
EDIT: Is it worth modding?
The EA888.3 motors are great. they have the same common problems as any other TSI motors. water pumps/thermostat leaks, timing isn’t recommended until 130k but chain stretch can be checked with OBD and if it isnt above 7° you’re fine. Timing at a reputable performance shop that knows what they’re doing should be no more than $2000. congrats on the new ride!
