First off, I am a newbie cook. I have always been worried I would make mistakes and ruin food. Also, I unfortunately just became lazy and learned to enjoy the convenience of eating out and while at home, eating quick and convenient foods.
Recently, I started to research and purchase A LOT of kitchen supplies. I watched a lot of YouTube videos of some of the well known chefs out there, and loved their videos where they show all of the items that they have and how they organize their kitchen. So, I have bought most of those random items that I already did not have.
The biggest purchase for me so far was the Vitamix A3500. Initially I bought a different Vitamix that had great reviews but before I even used it, I learned that it was not compatible with attachments. So, I returned it and bought the more expensive model and I bought all of the attachments that I could. I probably went a little overboard but here is what I now have...
Vitamix Ascent Series A3500 Blender, Brushed Stainless
Vitamix 12-Cup Food Processor Attachment
Vitamix Aer Disc Container, 48 oz.
Vitamix Blade Scraper Accessory, 1 Count (Pack of 1), Grey, Nylon
Vitamix Blending Cup and Bowl Starter Kit for Vitamix Ascent and Venturist machines, Clear, 20 oz. cup and 8 oz. bowl
4 Piece Immersion Blender Bundle
Immersion Blender Mini Chopper
Silicone Blender Spatula
So far I have made only smoothies, but they are probably the best I have ever had! And the time and effort to make them, and to clean up is almost nothing! This is my kind of cooking! haha. I probably did not need to purchase the mini chopper for the immersion blender if I already had the 12 cup food processor attachment, huh? or does it make sense to keep both? Also, I notice the KitchenAid has a few food processor attachments. If they are better, I want to know so I can eventually switch over.
For the things that Vitamix and KitchenAid both do, I assume usually one is better than the other, while other times it may just be personal preference.
Anyways, this is a helpful link for all of the attachments currently available for the KitchenAid. I can tell that even among this list alone, there is no point in buying all 22, since some are extremely similar, with some just being a slight upgrade. For example; 3 blades instead of 2.
I know a person should probably buy only what they plan to use. I am kind of doing the opposite though. I am spending a significant amount of money on supplies, so I will feel obligated to eat home more often instead of eating out all of the time. I was spending around $1000 per month on eating out alone, so it is OK to go all out on these items. I want everything now, so I can just experiment with them as I have time and desire. I also want to do this all now, so I can start off the new year with a fresh start with my budget. This is the list from that link. I find it helpful that the link also has links for each of the 22 products as well.

At a quick glance after going through all of this, I am guessing from KitchenAid, I will likely want the metal food grinder and skip the regular one? And then add the large food tray and the sausage stuffer kit. For the next category, probably grab all three; ice cream, shave ice, and sifter (unless the Vitamix does any of these better). For pasta, I think the combo of both the gourmet pasta and the 5 piece should cover everything there? Bread bowl and grain mill both look interesting if the Vitamix does not do those better. The slicer/shredder looks cool but does the Vitamix do those things better, or should I have this attachment as well? 5 Blade spiralizer, vegetable sheet cutter (do I need the noodle blade here if I am getting all of the pasta stuff already?), citrus juicer; is there any reason to get this if I already have the Vitamix? Food processor with dicing kit sounds better than the regular one. Is this better than the one Vitamix has? My Model K455 includes; (1) 4.5 Quart Stainless Steel Bowl , (1) Coated Flat Beater , (1) Coated Dough Hook , (1) 6-Wire Whip. The beater, hook, and whip are all coated. I assume it is worth the upgrade to stainless steel for the three items? I have heard good things about the Flex Edge Beater, so I assume this is also worth getting.
I know this is a lot. Hopefully someone can help to guide me through some of this, and at least narrow down what I am looking at. If you made it this far, I sincerely appreciate you taking time to look this over and try to help me out. I am eager to make my last large purchase for a very long time. I have so much to learn. I had no idea the Vitamix and the KitchenAid were able to do so many things! The thought of eating intestines to me is gross, but I am definitely craving some homemade sausages and brats right now!
I also know I better check out the KitchenAid bundles on different websites before buying what I want.
EDIT: I JUST NOTICED THAT THE METAL FOOD GRINDER INCLUDES THE FOOD TRAY AND THE SAUSAGE STUFFER KIT. AWESOME!
EDIT 2: I KNOW I AM WILD, SPENDING THIS MUCH MONEY ON KITCHEN GADGETS. THIS WILL SEEM SILLY TO SOME OF YOU. HOWEVER, I PUT A LOT OF TIME AND EFFORT INTO THIS, SO HOPEFULLY SOMEONE CAN ASSIST ME IN CHOOSING THESE FINAL PURCHASES SO I CAN ENJOY MY NEW HOBBY.
TLDR; I bet it will help a lot of people if someone can come up with a chart comparing the Vitamix A3500 and KitchenAid K45SSWH, along with all of their attachments and accessories. Then someone who wants the best/all of everything can just refer to the chart and know what to buy from which company to have the best of both worlds.
