2-days solo layover

Hello everyone, I’m 26M from Italy and I’ll spent almost 2 days in Reykjavik heading to Boston. I’ll stay in a city-center hostel and I’m open to meet new people, possibly close to my age, to enjoy more the island. Beside that, I was wondering if the guided tours to golden circle and northern lights hunting really worth it. I prefer not renting a car this time (I’ll do it next time for sure). Any other itinerary advices is really really appreciated.
