Hi! I'm visiting Iceland from early morning May 18th and leaving at noon on the 27th. I have a few questions. I'm interested in recommended routes having 9 (ish) full days and a vehicle. I was initially looking at doing the ring road, but I'd prefer something a bit more off the beaten path and was looking at West Fjords or Northern Iceland. Or if these would be feasible to do and the ring road but I'm thinking not due to timing. To tie in, I'm looking at either renting a campervan (without 4x4, too expensive to get a campervan with 4x4) OR renting a 4 x 4 vehicle with a roof top tent, or alternatively bringing my own camping gear and just setting up as I normally would. I know it'll be chilly, however I live in Canada and I'm used to winter camping conditions. I'm aware I wouldn't be able to explore West Fjords without 4x4 so that's a consideration as well. PLEASE help me make a decision as I need to get my rental locked in soon! I love most things and like to stay busy most of the day without rushing things. I prefer outdoorsy/nature/ beautiful sights to anything indoorsy or mueseums etc.
