I just finished watching the series (and the special) today and my heart is aching. This series really resonated with me, and I'm listening to the OST as I type this.
I'll admit that I'm not really a huge fan of anime. The last time I watched an anime show was when I was 6 or 7 and it was mostly Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc. The whole enchilada. But I was so moved by these shows I went on to buy toys, books, comics, and make drawings of my fave characters (well, haven't we all at some point?)
But a couple of weeks ago, I was diagnosed with Tuberculosis (I'm alright, just need to take meds for 6 months). As someone who's stuck at home, I've recently discovered my long lost love for anime.
I was browsing anime series' on Netflix, including some of the more popular titles like Death Note. But most of the series I came across I either found too dark or too comedic. VE was the first one I watched that really stuck with me right from the first episode (stunning visuals, good storytelling).
Watching the show has made it easier for me to cope with my condition in some way, and Violet's voice and the OST has been my anchor and guiding force.
Like I said, this is the first anime show I've seen in ages. And my question is: to everyone else who's been invested in VE, do you have any other similar anime shows you could recommend?
Currently I'm watching Children of the Whales and so far so good. I think I'm into emotional, feel-good shows; the type that'll give you a good cry after you watch.
Help a sick, hopeful kid out will you :)
P.S. I'm a writer, but I really, really wish there was an Auto Memories Doll profession out there where people could go places, meet new people, and write letters on their behalf. Just a thought.
