Nikon Macro lens that was AI’d and extension tubes

I bought a Nikon 55mm 3.5 that was AI’d and was looking for an extension tube. I was looking at the M2 that originally came with the lens or the PK-3 which is also non-AI and was wondering if it would be still be OK to use or if I need to get one like the PK-13 which is for AI lenses? Didn’t know if there would be a small gap or something if I ended up with an extension tube for non-AI lenses. I’m not using it on a film camera but it will be on an adapter and used with my Sony. Thanks.
