New editing computer?

Post Body

I’m sure there’s a lot of threads on this, but I’ll give it a shot. I used to do some freelance editing while I was in high school, but I currently work in live production, & with the industry being very seasonal, I wanted to get back into some freelancing for the slow seasons. I currently have a M1 Mac mini 16 gigs of ram. It works good with Final Cut, but I was editing a simple video for a client in davinci resolve and I had a lot of overlays, some motion graphics, captions, and I was adding a camera face tracking effect and my playback completely froze. I had to remove the effect even get it to work. I’m not sure if it’s the computer or just that maybe something in my settings is wrong but that’s a pretty simple effect and it really shouldn’t be slowing down my entire editing process that much. So if you guys have any suggestions, I was looking into the Mac Studio, but I don’t know if it would be a little overkill. Or for the price I might as well build a killer pc. I do prefer macOS, but since it’s just for editing I could care less if it would be better to build/ buy a pc. Thanks for any opinions!
