Adding an ac coupled inverter to my Victron ESS setup

Post Body

Hello everyone!

I'm currently working on setting up my Victron ESS (Solar DC coupled), and I've got the following components in place:

  • 3x Multiplus II 5000
  • 1x RS450/200 MPPT for PV
  • 2x BYD B-Box 15.4

Here's my configuration:

  • Grid is connected to AC-IN.
  • House load is on AC-OUT.
  • I plan to have the AC coupled inverter on AC-OUT.
  • My goal is an AC/DC coupled system (best of both worlds)

I've got a few questions I was hoping to get some insights on:

  1. If I connect the AC coupled inverter (SMA) on AC-Out, will it be unable to charge the batteries through the Multiplus setup?
  2. Assuming I connected the AC coupled inverter to AC-IN, would I need an additional power meter and would this allow charging the batteries through the Multiplus?
  3. Will the AC coupled inverter be controlled by the Victron system? For example, adjusting the power output as needed?
  4. Is there any way for an automation system to detect if the AC coupled inverter has excess power available? For instance, if the load needs to initiate first for the inverter to receive a signal to boost power (e.g., showing a current output of 3kw when there's a total of 8kw available)?

Would appreciate any insights or advice! Thanks in advance.
