I’m going to be moving downtown in may after finding an extremely affordable pet friendly rental. After searching this subreddit I’ve found that most answers to similar questions are “sell you car, get a bike” or “you can afford to live downtown so you can afford to pay for a parking spot.” Both of those answers are quite reasonable but I rely on my car for work and before I start dishing out $200 a month on parking I’m curious how realistic is it to live downtown without paying for a parking spot. I work 7:30am-4:00pm and after work spend my time running errands and taking the dog for an outing. So weekdays don’t really feel like an issue since parking is free after 6pm and I’m gone before 9am the next morning. Weekends seem like they’ll be a headache though. Does anyone have any tips or experience living downtown without paying for parking? Just trying to figure out how realistic it is.
