Vets of reddit what’s something you wish kids and parents were taught about owning pets?
Post Body

What are things you see in practice that makes you think I wish people just knew this. Might be things your constantly explaining over and over or things that easily avoided.

Comments

Have both your dogs and cats on flea/ tick and heartworm prevention (preferably prescription or reputable products) year round. I can’t tell you how often I tell people that and don’t understand the dangers of heartworm disease and tick borne disease. Not to mention it’s gross having bugs crawling on your pets, and potential for secondary flea allergy dermatitis. Budget appropriately for prevention when you get an animal please.
