What does it mean when a claim decision is "Deferred"?

Post Body

I recently got a letter in the mail explaining the decision for various items I had filed increases for, but my claim for OSA says that its been "Deferred". The OSA claim is a secondary claim to my service-connected Mental Health issues.

The only explanation in the decision letter reads as:

"The issue of compensation for sleep apnea is deferred for the following information: medical opinion"

Does anyone know what this means? Since its been deferred, do I now have more time to submit additional evidence should I have it (like a personal statement)?

I'm just getting settled after a move so I'm in between VSOs right now. The claim was initiated with the VFW in NC, but I'm in NY and don't have a VFW VSO assigned to me yet. So I appreciate all the info I can get on this-- thanks in advance folks
