I was going to make a post asking what everyone is doing in light of the recent CPAP recall that Philips issued, but since I couldn't find post here on the subject and I know that many of us use CPAPs, I decided to make this announcement instead.
Here is a link to more information that Philips released on this, and here is a link to the inquiry website where you can check if your machine is affected. As you can see its not just DreamStations affected, but everything you need to check your machine should be there.
I've emailed my sleep clinician (who works at the VA) about this and she just said that I should definitely register my machine if its affected, and that they're "awaiting further instructions" about how to handle this.
As far as how I've been handling it-- I got issued this CPAP a week ago and after 3 days of not using it, I've realized how poorly I was sleeping until I started using a CPAP. I've woken up feeling like a truck hit me for two days in a row. And while people on reddit have been noticing horrible smells coming from their machines and black flecks in their water tanks/tubing, I haven't noticed anything like that, so... I'll keep using it until I can get a replacement and hope for the best? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How many of you were aware of this, and how have you been handling it? How many of you are just now finding out? Were any of you been contacted by the VA about this? What are your thoughts?
Above all, I hope this info helps-- and happy Father's Day!
