So I served 2004 to 2008 in the navy as an aviation machinist mate, 2009 to 2015 US army as a combat engineer. Deployed to Iraq. I got out both honorably, mainly because I started having medical issues mainly my heart. I came down with SVT, I filed for disability in 2014 about 5 months before my ETS.
I was diagnosed with
Tinnitus 10 percent Left leg pain 20 percent with numbness Lower back 20 percent PTSD 70 percent
Total 80 percent disability
Now I settled with that and went on my way but my ptsd was really bad, developed Agoraphobia, Panic Disorder. I had over 51 ER visits in 4 years. Main reason why was because SVT is a heart arrhythmia so I never knew if I was in my heart arrhythmia or panic attack so I’d rush off to the ER to make sure it wasn’t my heart. It was a nightmare. Almost didn’t make it out of that time period. I also had a pulmonary embolism in December 2018. Was in ICU during Christmas.
I never claimed the SVT against the service, but I did go back to the VA to see later if I had sleep apnea in 2019, and the diagnosed me with it. I filed a claim but then was kinda told that they can raise but also lower so I got worried and didn’t pursue it but things got worse. So recently I’ve decided to go for it, my army and navy friends said I needed to. So where I filed originally in 2019, I was getting evidence together from my civilian doctors and my PC wrote this letter below.
I was trying to figure out a few things and get some opinions. Would this letter be enough to push me over? I am trying to get more. Also would getting sleep apnea as a secondary condition push me from 80 to 100 percent? With all of my issues I still work full time, I don’t want to give up my job because I enjoy being around people at work and not sitting at home. I’m worried if I got 100 percent I wouldn’t be allowed to work and be stuck at the house all the time.
I’m listing all my issues and the doctor letter. Thanks in advance you all so much. I do appreciate it greatly brothers and sisters!
