Post Body

Hey guys so I’m 100% P&T currently living in NJ and looking to move to the Vegas area. I’ve been searching around a bit on this topic and would love to hear from other vets that have done something similar moving a far distance.

The biggest obstacles I see so far are going to be the overlap of one house to another, where to stay during the move out/in process, and if I can even buy a house without me and my wife having jobs.

My wife is employed full time now and I have my 100% but no other W-2 income. Cash would not be an issue for us once our house sells since we luckily bought in April 2020 and the value has almost doubled. I’ve been hearing that I can use TLF with my base privileges? But for how long?

I’m also reading that you can’t use a VA loan until the previous mortgage has been paid off? But also seeing some people say that does not matter and it can be used as you swap homes. We haven’t talked to our realtor(s) just yet.

Also looking for any recommendations on how to physically move. We plan on getting rid of most of our furniture and just starting over. We’re thinking of using those POD type containers for anything we keep and then everything else will be self moved with my truck and trailer.
