Has anyone out there that accepted a separation in lieu of trial (Marine corps and Navy) chapter 10 (army) or chapter 4 (air force) and later had their discharge upgraded and narrative reason for separation changed got their VA benefits and compensation? I'm waiting on a decision from the VA now. All the stuff about the Hagel and Kurta memos was supposed to help veterans who were unfairly separated get their discharges upgraded and finally receive their VA benefits but the VA is still characterizing their service as not honorable for VA purposes.
